What does the course entail?

Prior to attending the course there will be some pre-reading and reflection to prepare you for the course content. Over the sessions, we will delve deeply into the elements of mindfulness, exploring both its principles and practices. Discussions will center on the purpose of teaching mindfulness and what we aim to achieve when introducing it to others.

The first session focuses on facilitating guided meditation practices. Practical strategies, including the effective use of metaphors and creating a safe and supportive environment will be emphasised.

In the second session we will focus on mindful enquiry, exploring key facilitation skills that aid inclusivity and promote individual understanding and growth.

In session three you will put your learning into action. Each person will deliver a 5-minute teaching on mindfulness followed by a 10-minute guided meditation and a 5-minute enquiry. All participants will receive constructive feedback on all three aspects to refine their teaching approach. Depending on the number of participants this session may be 3 hours in length.

The course concludes with a session on practical teaching tips and key principles, followed by a plenary to consolidate learning and discuss next steps for applying these skills in real-world settings.
